Flash Header - issues
If I want to use a large flash movie as a header for my webpage, what issues should I be considering? I want to do something like this:
Code:
http://www.cascade.se/
Does anyone know how they did that preloaded that is kinda discreet?

issues could be flash/browser compatibility.
preloader scripts are everywhere ... try going to 'www.flashkit.com' for tutorials and stuff. you just need to move the progress bar (preloader) to the bottom of the animated graphic element.

I would consider this issue, especially if your header contains any menu items:
Code:

Quote:
Due to a patent ruling, plug-ins loaded using the embed, applet, and object tags will no longer be interactive unless the user actually clicks on the plug-in object first

i think you can use large movie as large as you want. The issues could be like what arkegonium said, browser incompatibility, or download time. Try to make the video smaller and then scale it to bigger size, but use the video smoothing / anti aliasing feature from Flash CS3.
Code:

This site even make the video as their background, like this one for example :
Code:
http://archive.group94.com/g94videocast/

I really liked the use of video that "group94" website is using! Thanks Satu for the link.
