Flash Header or no Header

Hi!

Here's something that I've been pondering for awhile and even tried googling it without finding a satisfactory solution.

I'm designing a webpage and I have a flash animation as the header. Is there a way to switch this flash header to a jpg header automagically if a user doesn't have flash installed?

so, user has flash -> browser shows swf.
User doesn't have flash -> show jpg picture instead.

I hope that made sense

Yes you certainly can. I would suggest using swfObject (google it) to embed you flash. It is unobtrusive and validates. PLus it has sweet detection and replacement.

Yep agree on the SWF object too. Buy try it on three browsers at least ( IE6 IE/ and latest Mozilla).
YouŽll probably MUST work with CSS+Dreamweaver to tweak the templates of swfobject to suite your needs.
Check on the SWFobject site cause latest version is 1.5 and moving to 2.0 (swf fix). Also you can find that on Google Code (test Google Labs / Code and write swf fix on the text field and GO).
Hope this helps ya.
My last advice: try to use html+css as much as you can and let flash play the eye candy part... but let the content be more "htmlish" you can in order to gain lighter /searchable /usable contents for the user client.

Pardon me if I'm wrong or missing something, but I believe that in the publish settings in Flash, there is an option you can select to show a selected jpeg if the browser doesn't have flash loaded.

Where can I find this option in the publish settings?
