VHS to DVD

Hi, can anyone help me in transfering VHS tapes to DVD-R discs.
1) I have a VHS machine with 2 scart sockets.
2) A computer with no S-Video on the graphics card, but plenty of Hard disk space, 2gb ram running XP, and plenty of DVD-R's !

Step by step, what do I need to do. I don't want to go to a specialist nor do I want to buy a dedicated converter machine. I want to do this via my computer and VHS machine. Silly or what?
Any response would be great. Thanks.

the s-video port on most graphic cards is only for output they don't accept incoming signals... you need a video capture card to convert your vhs tapes on to the pc
