Hi ikarus =)

It sounds like it could be a driver problem.

Have you tried updating your gfx card driver?

well I am not

well I am not the specialist...

but when I read this it sounds to me as if it has a problem with the mousedriver.

if it is a razor this can easily happen, for instance (had trouble with those on several pc's), but it can be any other mouse, too. Well that is boring work... uninstall the mousedriver that may cause the problems, restart, try another mouse, see if it works. If it does, reinstall the driver of your mouse and see, if the dirver works when it is clean installed or if the problem appears again yeah, that's a try... if this all doesn't help... and it is a usb mouse, go and change the usb port... who knows... still not helping but it helped with the other mouse? well, then just go the first steps again and use the other mouse

well then you should see your application error logs and systemlogs... maybe you can find something in there, that tells you about the problem - if it is hardware or software problems.

I recall that one of the last Windows Updates for Vista is wreaking havoc with USB devices and of course MS isn't saying much yet. May be part of the SP1 pack. Perhaps that's at least part of the issue.

Well maybe you should try decrease cache levels in you're PS Preferences.
Default value is 8 but you should try 5-6. I have same problem, this change works for me. Hope this helps.
