Unhappy I tried and I tried, but . . .

That is what I thought at first, but nothing happened. I found Quick Par on the web , but I still do not understand why this file type? An how to open it.

Hi Ghostmonkey =)

If you can post the url where you found the file it would be easier to figure out what format it is.

If you have downloaded rar file from a web service by download manager software without account and direct access you can have a ****ed file... I suggest to use link browsing it manually and enter validation code

QuickPar (not rar) is a utility for a parity file (.par) used for redundancy and data recovery, most often in newsgroup distribution of binary files.

RAR is a compression scheme such as ZIP or LHA, SIT etc.

WINRAR for Windows, or UNRARx for Mac
Code:
hxxp://www.unrarx.com/
will decompress this RAR file.

But, as others have said, you must first rename the file extension from filename.rar.html to just filename.rar.

If it is a huge file like a DVD, it surely is compressed.

Cheers.

Sounds much to me like a bad rapidshare (or similar) download. However, you said it was a long download, so I'm willing to assume that the file you have obtained does, in fact, contain all the data that you were choosing to download. I have to agree that renaming the file should work. If not, you may seek software that repairs .rar files.

Check the file size. If the file is the full size, rename it...if its 5kb or sumthing you will need to download it again.
