How does one do 3d text rendering

I was wonder how somebody would create a 3d text rendering like this..

I am just starting to use photoshop, but will use anything to acheive the goal..

I think the best way would be making it in max, or other 3d program, just typing your text and extruding it.
If you wanna do it in Photoshop here's a tutorial, is not exactly what you want to do, but it may be a guide

id recomend going for a 3d workflow for that logo. i think its way easier to make that in 3d rather than 2d. even if you are experienced 2d artist and only begginer 3d artist :)

simple spline text in max then extrude a couple rotations and a light with area shadow and tadaaaa, the logo is ready

... and going for a 3D workflow, it is my experience that Maya's bevel tools (along with its "illustrator object") are the best. Max can get a bit messy with beveled text.

looking at the angle and the object intersecting, i don't think photoshop able to do that. Quite sometimes ago there are some plugins form ulead, but even that plugins didn't allow intersecting objects.

if you happened to have 3d studio or other 3d software, i believe creating that 3d text arrangement would be very easy...

sorry can't help you much on that...
