Orthographic Projection in 3ds Max

This may sound kind of weird, but I don't fully understand the concept of the orthographic projection option in 3ds Max's camera. I know that it removes perspective, but when and where would it be suitable to use, in terms of an animation or a single frame. Is it proper to do an artistic render with the ortho projection option enabled?

The feature you are refering to is called "Perspective Correction". It is the closest thing to using a shift lens (or PC lens), which makes vertical lines appear truly vertical, by shifting the lens up and down instead of tilting it. This keeps the film plane parallel to the object.
