vray mat's lookin like crap on screen!

I have very good look collections of Vray mat's, looking cool in mat. editor, but when I apply them, specially the 4 fundamental ones ( glass, anodized aluminum,
white stucco and water) they look like crap!
I use HDRI in environment reflexions , different combination of Vray light/sun with no success!
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

What color mapping type would you use and what values?
That issue color mapping + LWF discussion is giving me an awfull time!
Besides, I don't get how the Override reflexion in environment @ vrayrender works!
If I put a HDRI there, are my glasses going to reflect that and not the real entourage or what?
Thank you

LOL.. yeah .. there are a few things you could do..
first off.. you could try using a gradient grey white background in your environment.. or prolly use a huge cylinder with its normals flipped and with a background image mapped on it.. those dark backgrounds wont help in any way..

Second.. use an infinite plane with falloff on its mats.. vray plane ... as the base plane.. for test renders at least..
those mats you are using would require some tweaking too.. they are set to fresnel reflection would be my guess.. lower the reflective glossiness from 1.0 to around .86 to .92.. uncheck the fresnel reflection box on the Reflection section of teh materiel.. that should make things slightly better..

Could you try and send that max file across, and I will try and send you some settings for it..
Dont hate VRay.. it is a good tool.. dont complain abt it just because it looks difficult now.. you will be up and running in no time..

But here is what amuses me.. I havent been here on this forum in ages.. and I come back and see.. Ornoxx is still cribbing ... way to go man.. .. good to see you but for ehavens sake man.. stop cribbing.. :)

To the best of my knowledge overriding the enviorment in the Vray renderer simply tells Vray to disregard any backround enviorment colour (or maps) in the project when it calculates the reflections and shading of the scene and replace them with whatever hdr map you drop in. So the hdr map will be visable only on reflective surfaces of your final image while your orignal enviorment color or map will still be visable but wont have effected the objects in your scene. clear as mud!
