For some reason i prefer to use finalrender i have had some experience with brazil and vray, they are very powerful tools vray i would recommend for exterior scenes brazil works well with organics as well, but still i find finalrender very flexible. mental ray may be the king of them all, but the learning curve is ultra steep and there isnt that much tutorials for it outthere cus its very technical..!

I don't know which is better, but vray is much easier to learn, and you have really great tutorial for it on net...

Cool

i started using final render many years ago, but once i tried vray, i really got hooked on it. the level of realism achieved with the minimum effort is what made it click for us. we had over 70 workstations handling the renderings, and with vray we almost never had any quality issues or the technical ones...

It's not so much about the engine itself, it's much more about the user in control of the engine. You can have the best renderengine in the world at your disposal yet if you lack the brains and skills you will not be able to take advantage of it. :)

Try them both, see which you prefer and can work best with. Make up your own opinion and stick to the tool you love the most. That's my recommendation.

comparison renderers?

Now i think we know most people are using the 3dsmax/vray concoction, but I have to say i can never get enough of those comparison renderings. When we can see examples of work in multiple apps i think it may give us all a better understanding of which app might be best for you.

i think the new finalrender R3 will be unbeatable they both have pros and cons, but finalrenders animation flicker-free GI engine is unbeatable at the moment..
