Post Help needed - Multipass rendering in mental ray

Hi everybody!!
i'm trying get multiple passes from a single scene from mental ray within maya. unlike 'renderman for maya' i am unabel to get different passes like diffuse, abient, occlusion etc.,from mental ray renders. cananybody help me out??

You can use renderlayers For diffuse, occlusion and more already available presets . Or use p_MegaTK shader out of shaders_P (with MentalRay Standalone ).

i tried p_megaTK. actually the passes p_megaTK gives would be best for me. but, thats not working somehow. in the manual over there it said not only standalone, even mental ray within maya also works for it, and it just need an additional geometry shader. so do u know how to get it running?

You can use CTRL_BUFFER from Ctrl Studio or Francesca Luce ... she has an own section at mymentalray.com ... it works similar to the one above

You simlpy select the object you want to render out in the layer. and where you normally select your layers (channel box), there is a two buttons (by default display is ticked), but select render you now go into render layer options mode.

two little icons like a yellow star and a yellow star with a blue sphere add your objects that you have selected.

Once you have all your objects selected and added to the layer depending on what type of render layer your want, you right click the layer name and select the layer preset. I suggest you name the layer too,cus if you batch render the images are place in folders according to the name of the layer...
