| Graphics tablets story
I wanted a graphics tablet some months back , initially for zbrush. I saw a lot'a cheap ones around , and the wacom brand, which everyone rated highly. Couldnt find many reviews on cheap brands tho'. Having no credit card and seeing a cheap brand in Tesco , i bought with cash , and they told me i coulkd return it if it wasnt good. Well , it was okish , it worked on 95% of things , the odd menu would freak out , the odd camera pan or zoom would flip out on carrara ,so i just learnt to avoid the bad points. It was quite useable for general navigation around windows doing everything.
Then last week it started playing up, it would turn off - not be recognised by winxp , then it just died altogether.
I prepared to take it back, its got a 2 year guarentee, execpt for that i couldnt find the receipt . I emailed trust , and the reply wasnt that helpful.
I got a bit work this week ,and wanted a tablet , mice hurt my elbows after a few hours , and I had seen a small wacom tablet at a local store , for a good price , cheaper than the web prices actually. So , i went and got it , it was about 12 quid dearer than the cheapo i bought before.
Installed , updated drivers , (slight problems o n boot before update) and its lovley . The feel and weight of the pen is better, the surface of the tablet as it draws is better im begining to see why people rate wacom.
On the wacom forum I noticed a thread thats been going years , yes years !
Its about wacoms and dual monitors , mainly from artists who use dual mons at high res , they still have an issue with this.
I wopould also like to try a wireless keyboard that has an integrated trackballl mouse . Im looking to get a logitech trackball mouse , I think the variety of movement really helps prevent rsi .
