There is no magazine that can help you progress, you have to do it yourself by hardcore selfteaching or if you can afford it go and take a 3d related course at the university or similar.

I recommend teaching yourself, it's the best way.

On way is to start focusing on one of the bigger apps, like Maya, 3dsMax etc.
and when you have gone through the included tutorials check out the other
dvd tutorials available online for the chosen app.

There's nothing like learning by watching other ppl do things, it really
boosts the speed at which you come to grips with the tools.

Then again, you gotta have a burning desire to create stuff or it won't matter.

Hope this helps :)

Coming from the 2D graphics world of Photoshop and Illustrator, the interface for 3D apps are way more complicated. The CD-based tutorials like the ones by Lynda.com are pretty good at teaching you the basics.

dude if you want to learn 3D modeling, you need to seriously start from the basics and do the tutorials that come with your 3D modeling program.

from my experience in viewing 3D magazines, those models are customer based questions on how to model something that was submittied to them.

you'll see the stages that the person teaching goes through, but unless you know the basics you will not understand the concept which will screw you in the long run.

hint of advice, don't make an amateur mistake and try to move ahead too quickly, there's plenty of resources out there to elevate our levels, but you need a solid foundation before you can start to make things look presentable

The last but not least: to drill!! Your personal experience is the main point, your skill must to be in your hands, not only in your mind_)

I like 3DCreative, it has a lot of tutorials, but I would say your best friends are forums (here I hope we will have some nice discussions, CGTalk (the reference in my opinion), the 3D Total site, and last but not least Google (I guess you can google for about any possible tutorial).
Most 3D packages also come with a set of tutorials to get you started (thinking of 3ds max here but I'm sure it also apply to maya, c4D, Lightwave, and so on.
If you are into ZBrush, Pixologic is one of the best when it comes to teaching you how to use their app, a LOT of tutorials on Pixologic site

Abu

Oh, if I didn't put the links, don't worry, just google the names and you will find them :)
