Real-time rendering moves some steps closer to reality. San Francisco-based Caustic Graphics have posted information on CausticRT, a new system comprised of the CausticOne graphics card and the CausticGL programming API, that delivers high-performance scalable rendering.
The CausticOne graphics card allows artists to render images 20x faster and work interactively with complex 3D scenes, including those with advanced lighting and shading effects.
The second generation of Caustic's technology, due early next year, is expected to gain an additional order of magnitude in performance, offering
200x speed over today's state-of-the-art graphics cards.
The Caustic team is made up of experts who've worked for Autodesk, Apple, ATI, Intel and NVIDIA.
According to rumors, the Brazil renderer could be among the first to benefit from this technology.
