All i would really suggest is to practice, practice, and pratice because when i was younge all I would do is draw dragonball Z characters and gained a lot of knowledge.

The best advice and what you will probably hear all the time when you ask this question, is just to draw all the time. As someone else said practice, practice, practice! Draw from life as much as you can. Worry less about technique and push yourself more towards just getting in the habit of drawing constantly. There are a lot of books and tons of online resources, but just don't get caught looking so hard for shortcuts that you avoid the real mileage that you need to put in.

I learned to draw only manmade objects watching some dvd's from Scott Robertson and reading some tutorials.
I dont have much talent for drawing organic forms.
Yes you have to draw all the time, but still you will have to follow some guidelines first(to see how professionals do it).
There is hope.
Cheers

found another page with some excellent tips and videos for getting realistic pencil drawings! Try to see all the videos, even the materials section, which seem a bit boring at first, but is a necessity:

enjoy!

there is another page with some free basic tutorials:
fivepencilmethod.com/how-to-draw-video-demos/
Free video demos of Darrel Tank's 5-pencil drawing method
and here are several short demos on special subjects like drawing hair:
fivepencilmethod.com/howtodraw/

Darell Tank is in my oppinion one of the best!
Unfortunately only the basic tutorials are free, but even these show the authors best qualities.
Check the examples of the hair tutorials - simply amazing!

Just in case someone has access to it......
