Autocad 2008 came out with MentalRay 3.5 and new UVW mapping system, so you can do Very good renders with it, BTW I feel something like unconfortable working with AutoCAD ion 3D cos it's a little painfull with viewport movements...
But if you don't take 2008 and enjoy rendering.
Cheers

hmm thanks for all yur replies ,my project has been held up but its still all very interesting . Im still using carrara mostly for 3d stuff. My max skills are still low. Havnt touched mental ray yet. Autocad too i still havnt explored ,too much other stuff going on .Had a play with maxwell render , which i kinda liked for its simplicity. Oh saw that blue cherry plugin that helps simplify mental ray, interesting. Carrara is long over due a big update , but since Daz 3d bought it out, no one seems to know if thats gonna happen, shame its a pleasure to use. ..and now cs3 is here, and soon the new AE and premiere, blimey theres not enuff hours in the day.
