Copyright Infringements And Warezers

was the title of a letter that reached the administration today. A Lady asked to not provide her copyrighted products and so I ask you nicely to read this and if you have proveded copyrighted stuff of this lady, so please remove your links to her products.

Here her lines, so you all can see if you have provided any of her stuff:

I have been to your site and see that you are allowing my copyrighted products to be distributed for free.

I have notified Rapidshare, Deposit Files, File Factory and other file storage websites of the illegal activity, distributed
a list of your users across the web, and I will visit your site everyday to moniter my own products.

I am tracking down and have uncovered many of your users' true and legal identities, and my attorney is in
the process of filing legal action against them, you, and any other entities, individuals or businesses. I don't
care how long it takes. You've been warned ... and you better pass the warning on to your users.

You are screwing with MY legal business, breaking international copyright laws, and I don't take that lightly.

Well, I rote her back even I don't know who she is or what kind of products it is that one of us would copy but I have answered her that if she will give me a hint who she is and what her articles are, that we will remove any links that might point to some of her produts.

She's a quite well known and talented Poser artist, content creator etc known in the communities as Rhiannon. I can understand she's upset about this and i would not take her words lightly, best option is to remove any of her content that been posted.

Sure. we don't want to create any inconvenience for anyone, so I closed the section where we can assume it could be in posts and while we clean up there, we will keep it closed.

Sounds good, and my guess she's also checking the main GFXWorld page which is more public than this forum. That's probably causing more irritation for her now.

I have searched the database for several keywords including her name and her pseydonyms.... NOTHING - nothing in the whole database has the name Lorraine or the pseudonym Rhiannon except this thread here, twoin the damin section and a few PM's within the administration... the lady must have been totally wrong.

Well she (whoever she is, i'm not into this poser stuff at all) has full rights to be upset, but this is greyzone forum. Warez community shares copyrighted files for free, thats its twisted purpose. I understand that if you recived this letter you'll remove those links DrNoXx, but what if all companies will send that kind of letters? To all warez forums? That's kind of... nonsense.

I agree with DrNoXx's decision regarding this matter. It's better to play safe for the better future of this forum.

I believe in the security of this forum regarding the users' private identities. Therefore, uncovering it without having permission from admin would be equal to hacking... thus it's illegal too, right?

The bottom line is, I'd say.. she's a liar.

Soo.... what's the point of asking for removal of her stuffs (if there's even any in this forum.. I don't know, I'm not a poser user), if the legal action is already filed in?

She would get a lot further with a simple polite request to have links to anything of hers removed. We do not host any files and she has no legal recourse against this board.

Unfortunately like many people she is probably still assuming that this board is still affiliated with gfxworld, which it isnt.


and if she can afford to pay lawyers (I aint buying that) then it is clearly not causing her any hardship. Maybe even getting some customers through people who see examples of her stuff on places like this.

If companies like Adobe etc, cant shut down warez forums, do you really think she could ? No way.

I do not provide any of your products at all.

If someone posts links to your copyrighted products, I am not responsilbe for what the people do provide with their links. I only want a community that shares knowledge for free, not your products. If you see a user doing so, tell me and I will ask them to not do so. BUT first of all I do not know who you are and which are your copyrighted products.

On the other hand still it will be that I am not rapidshare or such a filehoster and I can not tell them what to do or not. The same it is with the files that are hosted on such filehosters: I can NOT look into those archives and see what is there, especially I do not have an interest in that stuff at all.

To be honest - the letter you have sent me there is too vague that I usually would take notice of it but I do not want anybody to have any inconveniecnces because I own a forum in which thousands of people provide their knowledge, links to articles and so on. Don't blelieve I would read them all - I am not looking at the board for moths sometimes.

Oh and sure... feel free to visit us daily - I am interested in active members of my forum. It yould be nice, if you would share some of your professional knowledge so we all can learn of it.

Well it is open for everybody to see the users registerd to this forum... but see, a nickname is nothing to me... I have about fifteen different ones, depending where I am registering and so on... so providing a list of nicknames in the internet - don't make the people laugh when you want something serious from them. See a D@rk@ngel or a Nicky is in EVERY forum of this world, but they are not physically the same person - so what is this providing a list of users of a community in the internet? I will not give you the answer here - think yourself.

See, the truth is that the original board lies in russia where it is leagal to provide ANY link as long as you do not store any files on your Server. We sure mirror the board on several servers in this world, so when one server will fall out, the other one can do the job. That is the reality of the internet. So please don't try to warn us, better talk friendly, tell me about which products you are tlaking and I will see what I can do for you by searching them and deleting the threads. As long as you do not give me any information that gives me a chance to find out which are your copyrighted products, I can not help you, sorry.

I give poor people from poor countries a chance to get the knowledge they need but can't buy as anyone wants only money - many peoöe here could not affort any tutorials or progrma that are expensive to learn on them, so they need advice and help for the short time the evalutaion stuff will last on their PC's, so they will not have years to study the subject. On the other hand the most universities or high schools want so much money that many talented people can not do that what they could do best. This is why I have opened a place where they can communicate and get help on their projects and they can get advices if they don't know how to do this or that... LOL - I am adminstrator and not only one of a simple forum - I do administrate computers and networks and even I have problems to find their real identities so please don't mind I am laughing my ass off here. Oh, btw if you try to find something illegal I do - you won't. I know myself better than you do. AND I know I do nothing illegal at all. maybe some of the members of the board do - but this in any guesthouse... you might sit next to a killer and don't even know it
