creating 3D terrain, using satellite data..

hi guys,
i am trying to create a replica of a mountain to be used as a gaming level in Ogre 3D engine..

I want to know what softwares can be used to do so...
And where i can get the satellite data to do it ?

Accuracy should be upto 5 meters..
Can anyone help me ?

I would say that Global Mapper is probably an app you'd like to check out.

Not sure if it does everything you want but it's one of the best.

I cannot view that thread yet but,
What I would do if I really wanted to do this, use google maps to screenshot a terrain area and than make your own displacement map?

Also the software, crazybump makes a normalmap for you and a bumpmap so maybe you can use that?

also if u want to look into it, dreamscape can offer some nice options for "sculpting" ur terrains...

google srtm data.

use pshop to convert to tif. use as displacement.

or convert to poly mesh.
