Simple really which is better, I use Terragen as my main landscaping generator, am playing with mojoworld, only thing I find is that landscaping is or can be hit or miss........... views ?, or are there better programs to do landscapes?
And you should also consider 'Vue 6 Infinite'. It was used in several movies like 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. It has plug-ins for the major 3D packages (Maya, 3DMax,...) known as Vue xStream. They support seamless rendering of your 3D geometry and the surrounding landscape, trees and ecosystems. Actually, your 3D geometry is rendered with MentalRay or whatever you have chosen. The landscape and trees are rendered with the Vue renderer. Things like reflection between those two renderers is taken into account.
I would also recommend Vue6. It is a really powerful solution for Landscape Modelling and has a lot of features (like volumetric clouds etc). Plus it has a very fast renderer. There is a trial Version on the Website (vue6.com). The integration to 3D Studio Max and other Apps is very useful.
I´ve made some good experience with that programm.
By the way, Terragen2 is not out yet. But there is a technology preview version free to download.
Taken on board all comments and have Bryce + Vue + Terragen + Mojoworld ( yes I am greeding ), love Vue6, still learning, Bryce am struggling with, Mojoworld so good, my first picture with Vue got some nice replies on renderosity site, doing a comp with Terragen, so thxs for the advice.
I too bought Bryce back when it was Bryce3D. Loved the look of the images but loved/hated the interface too. I've played around with Mojoworld and although the images that come from it are fantastic it takes a LOT of horsepower to make something happen quickly. I generally just put it aside due to frustration and the complexity of creating the most simple of scenes. I know people that create these wonderful programs are looking for ways to standout in the crowd, but the very thing that makes you unique can also poison you if not well received by the buying masses. Just as with Bryce the Deep Texture Creator is very confusing. Same with the new Terragen...as the feature set expands so does the learning curve and the frustration level. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE all these programs and everything that they do, but I am NOT a math wizard by any stretch and it seems these days you need a degree in Mathematics AND Computer Science, but hey, that's progress and it's just the way it goes. When I read the forums of the various programs and listen to the communication back and forth between users and programmers I have a great respect for the knowledge these people possess. This isn't a rant about "what's wrong" the the programs we all love, just a point of view probably shared by many.
