pricing isn't a cut and dried thing as saying $40/ hour.....there has to be flexibility, but you should have a guide that you are earning enough for your time and work spent.

The best way is definitely a fixed price for a fixed project. That takes you off the clock and allows you to to build some time into the project to work out any aspects you're not sure of without having to pass on those costs. Remember its not the customer's fault if it takes you 3 days to get the animation done, so there is a give and take.

thanks, am trying to keep it as a fixed price but i still don't have any idea of how much to charge. like not even a ball park, i don't want to over price, nore i want to get ****ed for my work, so idk... thats why i need to know around how much does a 3d modeler / animator gets paid per hour so that i can try to guess how long it's going to take me to make and charge based on that..

thankx in advance

Most of the freelancers I know don’t really distinguish specific rates for specific tasks (i.e. modeling versus animation etc). They base their rates off of the amount of time they think a project will take and the number of potential revisions.

Ask the client what his budget is and then try to work within that budget. I guess you should charge between $35-50/hour, but once again it depends on the client. If you're not comfortable and afraid to overcharge, I would do that one on the cheap and raise your rates for the next guys that come along. Remember $10/hour is not business, it's charity or considered intern material.

So do the math: if you feel your work is worth $1000 per week. Think of it as 40hours per week.

$1000/40 hours = $25/hour

$25 is very low, considering a good secretary makes more than that, and this does not include overtime, revisions....see my point.
