Animation / Walk-through Software

Hey everyone!

I was wondering if anyone could recommend software to create a 'walk through' in a building where the user controls the camera?

I only really know how to model in Max, but I'm not sure if you can create this kind of user-controlled walk-through directly out of Max? I had a search and saw a couple of applications that might help - Virtools and EON - are they what I am after? Anyone used them or know the whereabouts of tutorials?

Anyone who could help or steer me in the right direction it would be GREATLY appreciated!!

there is a program out there called quest3d that is pretty good... but really the most user friendly if you want to ease-ify it.. there is a plugin called RTRE (real time rendering engine) that works fantastic it even will use radiosity.

hey thanks for the leads yodakicksass!

I did a bit of research on those two you mentioned and also one called VR4MAX plugin. I think Quest3d is far superior to both in graphics and user control from looking at the demo walk throughs. RTRE does look easier though.

I found some video tuts on Quest3D wiki if anyone is interested.

Does anyone know where i can download Quest3D?
Has anyone used this software package before? Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help guys!~

I have Quest3D from demonoid. I just tested it if it works, so I can not say much about the program.

But autoCAD makes nice walkthroughs in the walk mode. With W, S, A, D and the mouse you walk through buildings. It's not exactly the same as in a game engine, but quite similar.

it is normal that it may take several days or weeks until a torrent is downloaded.

For exemple, the quest3d videos are torrents, and I'm downloading now with 0.3kB/s.

Anyway, I can upload quest3d 3.54 reseller edition if you want (around 100MB).

also i just thought of something else.. save it as a vrml file and do it that way... its close but not the same. then just get a viewer.. (google search) try different ones though .. as i remember some are better than others.

try here

or
Code:

and see if thats what you want... you need to keep it low poly though to save on lagging unless youve got a nice vid card. if any problems pm me or email. (you can even set doors to open when you walk up to them and stuff like that)

Hey guys! Sorry I've been in holidays and haven't really checked back for a bit. Thanks for your help! I managed to download it off rapidshare - but thanx for the offer phil! I appreciate it!

So have you guys been using quest much or have you just tried it once or twice?

I have been fiddling around with it and am trying to work out how to transfer materials from my max model into quest - do i bake it on or something?

I want to try and achieve the most realistic effect possible - has anyone had a go at it?
