fast image viewer/browser

Can anybody recommend some fast image viewer?
for a couple of years i'm using ACDSee but every new version of this software becames more heavy and slow + offers me some redundant options like red eye correction or exposure control.
is there any sustitute which generates fast previwes, eats less space for database, has "favorite folders" option and and can manage categories?

XnView - it is a freeware.
With XnView you can quickly and easily view, process and convert image files. The universal program is able to read more than 400 different formats and then convert them to other formats such as GIF, BMP, JPG, PNG, multi page TIFF. XnView can also display video formats, many digital camera formats and more exotic formats such as Amiga IFF and Calamus.
As well as offering easy image viewing, XnView also offers more advanced features such as Web page creation, contact prints, multiple conversion (format and transformation), slide shows, screen capturing and Twain support for scanners and digital cameras. Numerous image filters and effects for image processing are available.
An additional features is that XnView is available on many operating systems e.g. Windows ?, LINUX, HP/UX. In addition, to change its display (e.g. headings, text) to over 40 different languages, including English, French and German.

I'm wondering if there's an EPS viewer program (which exist on both platform, Mac and Windows).

Please advise.

Thanks!

I agree with you on ACDSee.
It has longtime been my favorite imagebrowser but now it has become too heavy.
I think they should make the application more modular (see firefox) so that you can choose what you need (and they could make more money out of the plugins).

I have seen an opensource alternative for ACDSee: opensee, but I do not know if this is any good.

Thumbsplus has a plug-in for EPS (as well as PDF). Is imo the best graphics browser/catalogue program with lot's of edit possibilities. Can handle 48bit images as well as RAW/DNG ones, both ways, read and write. To my knowledge it only exists for Windows, not 4 Mac. :(
