Question Photoshop CS3 PDF help!

I want to export my PSD as a PDF, but I need to embed the fonts into it. In photoshop 7, I used to have an option (checkbox) to embed the font when making a PDF. I do not see that option in CS3. But the layouts look different. Please tell me there's a way to do this.

Okay when ready to produce the PDF, select Print. Printer set to Adobe PDF.
Click the Page Setup button.

Now you have the Adobe PDF Document Properties dialog

Select Edit on the Default Setting line

Your now in the Adobe PDF Settings dialog.

Just click on Fonts and the top radio button (Embed all fonts) should be turned on

So yes it's there, even though a littel hidden away.

Hope this helps you out.

the best way to save a PDF for print production in photoshop cs3, is click save as,

then where you put the file name in make sure layers box is checked

The ICC profile can be unchecked as most printers dump that and re-import there own on there image setter or plate production system, but id it for we just leave it checked for now

then choose highest quality tab and look for the tab that says Preserve Photoshop Editing Capablities, click that.

If you want the pdf file smaller zip it afterwards.

Just printing pdf flatten it all and basically makes it a glorified jpeg

The fonts need to be preserved as it requires embossing when being printed. Andy41, thx for the suggestion of using adobe PDF printing. I might have to install acrobat and give that a go. I was hoping I could have done it all just with Photoshop CS3. I have no idea why they dont have that feature anymore in CS3. (just a checkbox to embed the fonts) I would figure for Adobe to keep pushing the use of PDF, they would have allowed font embedding thru photoshop instead of using another application. ::

thx for the offer dioxide. I managed to get it working. Following alistaircg through steps and finally choosing adobe pdf v1.7 (ver 8 compatible) the fonts were embedded.

Photoshop CS3 PDF

You can same the pdf file as pdf for prepress - but the main thing is, what purpose this file will have? For distribution, printing (laser, inkjet...), CTP or something else ... If you want file to be ready for prepress it's wisely to do the job with indesign or illustrator.
