Photoshop problem with mouse-wheel zoom

i like to use the mouse zoom. when pressing the ALT-key you can zoom with the mouse wheel.
my problem is that by pressing the ALT-key the menu-shortcuts get activated. so when i press [i] for eyedropper right after zooming, the image menu drops down. the same with [L]: instead of lasso the layer-menu appears.

this is really annoying. i guess i had this problem in CS/CS2/CS3

any ideas how to fix this?

Roadblock
You can set the zoom with mouse wheel in your preferences by just checking the box so you dont need to hit ALT as its activated all the time .
